One of my best friends is a Captain in the US Army and is currently stationed in Afghanistan for a 16 month tour. It's real... as real as real gets. There's automatic gunfire, rockets and more - and that's just the drive-bys late at night over their base camp.
So, one of the boys in his base camp thought he would lighten the mood a bit. Trust me, this is in no way "a day in the life of a soldier", but it is very creative, funny and shot right there at his base camp though my buddy is not in the film. Enjoy, I sure did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Oh5knbVdGk

Just when you think you have had too much and can't take it anymore - something like this comes along to remind us of how lucky we are to be here in relative peace and quite.
Great imagination, cooperation and talent displayed in this - very cool and I'll stop complaining for a bit. What software is used to make something like this?

Very Cool! We are here at Fort Benning so we here a lot from the Ground Troups. It is great that they could spit out a little humor in the midst of that heat over there. They say the heat is something else right now! Thanks! Wayne

I see you're a local, so I can tell you that my friend, Capt in the US Army has a home in Rio Verde and one near Cocomo Joe's (Tatum and Dynamite). That was shot by a guy in his command and they are all from the Arizona National Guard Army Reserves right there on McDowell Road. Small world heh? |

Definitely. I know that place over by McDowell and 52nd st well. They have a pretty cool little airstrip there as well. I was a commercial pilot in another life and notice such things. I've always liked Rio Verde. Beautiful place and priced a little better than NE Scottsdale.

I notice airstrips, types of planes, flight paths... OY! Super small world... Are you current? I love flying! But, only have ten hours in the book, haven't ever even "solo-d", yet. |

Not current anymore. I have to check my log book, but I think I have about 1100+ hours. I was just on the verge of applying with companies like American Eagle, Mesa Air, Great Lakes etc when September 11th went down. I figured there would be a log jam for a while as all the senior pilots were getting laid off and taking the jobs that I was applying for. I got into real estate and haven't looked back.
I do think it would be sweet to get current again and take up clients after they close to get a picture of their home from the air, get it framed etc.... I may do that. However, flying as a hobby and not getting paid for it can add up very quick. When I started flying in 1992 (freshman year in college) a 152 wet ran $44.00 an hour. Times have changed. You do need to take the time to at least get to the point where you get to solo. That was one of the biggest highs I have had in my life. Last edited by ScottsdaleHomes : 08-03-2007 at 10:42 PM. |
