Default Need help with a few items

I've been completely re-doing my website since I dropped out of the #1 position in Google for two keywords and landed on page 4-7 depending on the day.

1) I've heard about about "bleeding PR" and that is my concern on my Boise Real Estate page. Go to karengeselle.com and click on Boise Real Estate and go to the bottom of the page. Are all of these links a good idea or would it be better to put them on a separate page and just have one link to that page on Boise Real Estate page?

2) Are "cached" pages the same thing as "indexed" pages on Google? If not, how do I find out which of my pages are "indexed"? I've never been able to drag some PR off my homepage onto my interior pages and they don't appear to be indexed. Is there a secret to getting interior pages indexed?

That's probably enough questions for now. Thanks in advance for your help.

Indexed pages are different than cached pages. A page can be cached but it might not be indexed.

To find indexed pages use the site command site:www.yourdomain.com this will show the indexed pages. You will see your sitespages - however some will in all likelihood be marked supplemental. I believe there is a thread here discussing supplemental pages.

The question for you is - did you have any agent to agent reciprocal links recently?

Hi Karen,

First off you have 2 links to reals.com on the bottom of your home page. I would suggest that you remove one of them. As far as your Boise page goes, check the links. "The Boise School District" link goes to the police department. I think there are too many links at the bottom of the page as you suggested. Perhaps moving them to a page and link to it from the Boise page would be a good idea. Maybe title that link Additional Boise Community Links or something like that.

I hope this helps but bear in mind that there are those in this forum that can give much better advise on this subject than I can.

Hi Karen,

First off, it is not necessary to redo your entire website just to get back your positions in Google. If you do that, do it for your own reasons.

You and another Boise site appear to be hit by the Google "excessive reciprocal link" penalty. Your state pages appear to be removed now. But, I'll bet you had them. Even though they don't seem to have had unique meta tag titles and descriptions, several pages are still showing up in the supplimental page results for the Google search "site: "Yourdomain".com".

I would spend my time using the Google Tool to remove those pages in the index. Here's good information on that: link to follow in email (IBS won't allow me to post links yet).

Here is some discussion about the big penalty at the AA Forums. (Link to follow in email per above.)

Bottom line: make sure you do a reinclusion request as described there. Supposedly, that will get your old rankings back within 30 days. They might be a little lower because of the the recips you will be loosing. So, just go get more good one-way links.

Right now, Glenn appears to be the only one who has actually been "reincluded". The rest of us are waiting patiently.

Good Luck,

Larry

Default Thanks for the feedback

Glenn - thanks for the info about cached vs indexed. Tried it and found lots of pages that probably need to be deleted as they've changed so much and in some cases, same page one with a frame and one without. Do you recommend I "clean out" the indexed pages that are the same or that have been removed from the site? Yes, I had agent to agent pages but not a lot of links on any of them. As I told DenverGuy, me and one other AA client on page 1 got bumped off to page 4-7 depending on the day. However, another AA client (who wasn't on page 1 near the top) with lots of recip links to agents moved up to page 1. Almost seems like they looked at AA clients at the top of the heap and moved them if they had any agent to agent links. Right now the top of the heap all have recip state to state links. Go figure!!

Mack - talk about not seeing the trees for the forest. Thanks the the input about the Reals.com icon. As many times as I've looked at that page and didn't notice it. I'm think too many links too. Will have to think about that so more..

DenverGuy - guess the reply I sent must have been sent to you personally since it didn't appear. Thanks again.
