I've found that my new home page format is getting A LOT more click throughs to interior pages - mostly buyer pages - since I changed it.

I'm getting good feedback from clients so I'm quite happy!

I simplified it and added a Home Search button. I also set the flash slideshow into a table the exact size of the slideshow and made the background graphic the first slide in my slideshow. That way, something eye-pleasing is there even if you can't see the flash.

I got rid of the gazillion navigation buttons and created a directory page, which is also getting more traffic to pages I want found - like the Buyer Classes and the open houses. (Got 2 buyers signing up this week!)

Congrats Kristin! Sometimes it's hard to make changes, but it seems like yours are working quite well for you!

Matt,
I like the landing page Max fixed up for you here at IBS. I need to get him to fix me up as well. Wayne

I don't think they are cheezy at all, but tastefully done, prominently placed, and think they will probably work for you.

And I'm not one who is quick to give compliments on that kind of stuff.

I actually don't think that the buttons are cheezy in and of themselves, but the size of the buttons was what seemed cheezy to me. For some reason they just look too big to me. More of a scream than a call. But don't take anything I say personally (actually cheese is one of my favorite foods).

Dan,
I don't mind the criticism. I threw it out there for critique. Everybody has likes and dislikes. What really matters is if it is effective or not. I was also looking for feedback to find the most effective calls to action. I have found that when utilizing the synergy of the group - we all get farther down the road - faster. Thanks for the input!

I like the idea of the call to action buttons, but feel that they they need a little work. The quality of the text is really bad and should be addressed. Not sure how, but I think they could stand out even more. Either way I think the idea is perfect, just need to play with it further.

Not that you asked, but I agree that the flash isn't something that helps your site. With how many visitors will not see the flash why bother with it. It doesn't add to making a site look good or professional IMO. I actually hate anything that moves on a website as it's a distraction, my eye keeps getting drawn to the moving object. This means people are looking at your pictures instead of the text.

Like Max suggested have multiple people look at your site and see what they notice first. I think you will be shocked at how many will get distracted by the flash.

I agree with you that the buttons need some work. I have just not gotten back to it yet.

I am also beginning to agree about the flash. I do like to have an attractive site - IMO it is a reflection on my business - but I am beginning to like sites more and more that do not have flash and just use a simple attractive header design. Clean and simple.

Thanks. Good input. BTW your new site looks really sharp. As I said above "Clean and Simple".
