Terry, I think I'll start collecting some of your phrases - you really starting to sound like an "SE Einstein"

For most people, SEO should not be real complicated. Create a page with content that is USEFUL, then get links to the page, because you want people to SEE your page, not because you want it to rank high in search engine results.

If they see the page, will they "stick"?

If not, don't worry about optimizing it.

For example, look up "interest rate predictions" on Google. I didn't create that page for SEO reasons. I just created what I thought would be a useful page. The same thing with "real estate calculators" on Google. I was just trying to create useful pages.

They both rank number one for those search terms. I don't create pages "just because" I want to optimize for search engines. I create pages that I think people will find useful.

(Note: for those that don't know me, I built realestateabc.com. Now I'm building HomeSurfer.com).

That's very good example Terry. Very often there is not just enough creativity in ourselves and not enought time to even try being creative...

Webmasters usually create links/resource pages keeping SEO in mind, so go ahead and optimize your resource page. Customers never read such pages

I have read in many places that a pr 2 site with few inbound links gives you more juice than a pr 5 site with hundreds of inbound links. Many people think this idea is outdated, but actually there is a discussion going on with a nice explanation about this topic at seomoz: www .seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-the-juice-is-loose

I think this is all good advice:
1) Careful of recip links with other Realtors
2) Get links from local people and real estate related sites
3) Links from strong directories ( there have been warnings about paid directories and opinions vary on this)
4) Pay attention to the quality of the other sites and not the foolbar
5) Variety of link sources

I would add that you should heavily interlink the pages within your site.
