Your content on the Listing Details page

Our new member wrote me and email and I thought I would start a thread on this topic, which I think is very important for our members.

Anyway, after reading your message below (and not digging any deeper) I have a question for you. Would I be able to just give you the HTML code for my index.htm page (frommy website) to use as my free content page? That way the links would just direct them straight to my real site and (I think) it would be seamless. Well, I'm just throwin' spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks, but your feedback is of great interest to me. Please let me know your thoughts when you get a chance.

To develop a page of content sometimes is more difficult than it seams from the beginning and a lot of us end up copying something that we already have on our sites. On my own opinion you should never copy your content and place it on another site unles the original page wasn't meant to be ranked on its specific keyphrases and drive traffic. Why? First of all it might create "duplicate content" issue with some search engines like Yahoo and Google. Yahoo is well known by its doplicate content filters where duplicate pages just might disappear from Y! index and I'm sure this is not what any of us would like. Google usually evalates pages and only one will have more relevant status and the other one usually hangs at the end of the serps. I already had exactly this kind of experience here in the directory when my pages were outranking the originals just because the content was completely identical.

Here is my suggestion: create a page (500 words at least would be nice) about your services, areas you serve (small descriptions of the areas - 2, 3 sentences), all the great features that can be found on your site. Feel free to link directly to the neighborhoods on your site, tools and other sections that are related to what your wrote and desired by your visitors. If you create your own HTML code - that's fine, you can include pictures off your site in the HTML (I don't usually host third party grapahics unles uploaded logos or agent photos, so you would have to have them on your site). Then just email it to me (editor@ibsteam.net) and I will do the rest. If it is difficult for you to generate your own HTML - Text, or Word Doc files are acceptable too - a little bit more work for me, but I don't mind.

I'm also watching our stats pretty much on daily bases, so I may see your keyphrases appearing and the direct visits from the search engines. We are very young directory, but already getting anywhere from 6K to 8K visitors per day and over 100K uniques a month.

I featured another area today - Fountain Hills by Tony Pomykala. Please take a minute to look at it. Featured Areas is paid option, but I can place the content you provide on your listing detail page without any charge.

Tony wrote quite a bit of content and used the opportunity to link to most important pages on his site - way to go! I hope he gets some good referrals from it.

A lot of older pages have Google PR 3, so I think this is really good opportunity for you guys to get your content and links on that page.

Another page I updated yesterday in the evening http://www.ibsteam.net/wsnlinks/links/detail/213 for Jacqulyn and Charles Richey in Las Vegas. Charles actually helps his wife (Jacqulyn) with her web site - he developed a Las Vegas Real Estate Monster that has so much information that I don't find on other agents sites. Charles, that is a complement

I hope Charles will add more info to his listing details page, which he promised, and we'll have another great featured listing in the directory.

Thanks Max, I do my best I tried to make my own niche, by having the most comphensive site about the Las Vegas real estate market online. I still have a ways to go but I'm getting there!

Great! We're getting some content for our targeted traffic - this should help A LOT to get us higher rankings on area specific keyphrases. Plus it gives our visitors more ideas on what information they can find on listed web sites.
