The reason I chose PHP Nuke, becase I was developing a software and I needed community type web site really fast that would have content section, downloads, membership submscription, forum and module flexibility - all that on that period of time I needed "yesterday". PHP Nuke seamed perfect for it - installation was simple and I had my community web site running within hours. I just didn't have time to do create my own site.
Even now, with all the free open source software available you don't really need to "invent the wheel" especially for community type sites or even real estate sites. I'm actually in the process of migrating to something else right now. PHP Nuke has so many features available, that I don't need probably 80% of them. There are some things that I don't like about PHP Nuke too - the layouts are table based and the HTML code doesn't validate; the upgrades are not always smooth; very often you have to patch things; third party software integrations like forums etc might also be pain in the butt... I didn't have too many problems though, usually when upgrading or adding something to it. It all depends on what you're looking for. I'll be setting up web sites for our real estate agents (I'm working for Century 21 franchise) and I'm planning on using Mambo. I have very little experience with mambo, but I heared a lot good about it and it has a few real estate addons available for mls and property listings search. Check out Mambo Gallery with really nice example of sites based on this software. And it is free too. BTW, there are few real estate web sites in the gallery - very nice.

When I get a site up and running based on Mambo I'll post here
![]() Right now I have two small sites with static html pages. I hate them. I wish I put it all up in PHP and made dynamic pages from the beginning... now I think I will have to redo them sometimes... Century 21 provides free static templates for the agents, so I used them for two of our agents and now it takes forever to update all the pages. Mostly I have to update each page separately. I'm also waiting a domain to be release for another agent, so I could use it and I will install mambo on it.

So far I like what I see... If I can manipulate it (I am sure I can after a bit of playing) I will convert all of my sites!
I have two C21 agents that I do all and any "tech" and computer work for. Both of them are new to C21 and waiting for the office to get them their company link info so I can include it with-in their sites... I will scratch both of their sites and start from the ground up with this at my disposal! Gotta go study the info! Thank you Max ![]() |

What did I do
I'm still waiting for one our agent's domain name to be released from the old host. So, I don't have anything to share yet, but as soon as I get it, I'm sure there will be something to look at (I hope) ![]() I'm working on AdWords compaign for another of our agents right now - so far no success, but I have expanded his keyphrases from about 2K to probably over 50K. I just put up the new keyphrases yesterday at night and already trippled the amount of impressions, but I have low bids, so no clicks yet... I'm new to this, so I hope to start posting something here when I get better at it ![]() Happy Holidays!

Just wanted to catch up on Mambo deal.
After I installed the CMS and let a few of our agents play with it, it was obvious that they can not maintain it on their own and I can not babysit them all. I have couple of big projects on my hands right now and I'm developing about 6 sites for our office agents from scratch. I tried working with Mambo, but it was taking too much time for me to create simple things and flexibility is limited. I'm playing all the time with different landing pages - changing forms, their appearance, customizing pages and scripts to convert more leads and Mambo is not big help. I think if you do projects for clients where you don't want to maintain their sites, CMS like Mambo would be fine especially if they have a little bit web savvy people/person. But in my case I still have to do all the work (looks like) - so it is much easier for me to do everything from scratch. Looks like no Mambo deal for me . My sites are simple and I think pagescan be much cleaner this way if you design your templates correctly. Basically I create a couple of different templates withing the same theme just for different typage of data display and then I write everything in PHP and it becomes really simple to create and maintain the rest.
