One big reason is that many people do not think they can qualify for as much as they really can; and you do not want to buy a home that is just okay, when you can buy a real dream home. Another reason is that many of the really good buys here are not on the market very long at all - this is a very different market from the continental US. And, if you have a pre-qualification, you know that you can make an offer that the seller can accept if the price is right. Many sellers here will not accept an offer without a pre-qualified buyer. I was the one who originally wanted to move here, and, honestly, after getting here I was wondering if I had made the right decision. Now, we have been here almost 2 years, and I know that it was a good decision. We do not have the big, fancy shopping malls or all of the chain stores and restaurants here that you are accustomed to. And truthfully, I do miss that at times. We do have a Home Depot and that is good for me. Culture is different, people are different, and the language is different. Yes we do speak English, but accents and brogues come from hundreds of different countries and cultures.

Sound familiar? That's what my wife said when I got the idea to move to St Thomas. True, it did seem almost insurmountable at the time. Well, I am here to tell you that it is not an insurmountable feat. In fact, it is not much more difficult than moving across the country. I will show you how to move your household goods to the islands and give you links to the people that do it. I will also show you how to transport your vehicles here. So far, I have sent two cars, one boat, and a full houseful of furniture and stuff to St Thomas. I will tell you who to contact and they will give you quotes and schedules.

In other sections, I provide information about what to do after you get here. But, one thing at a time. We first have movers, customs, etc. to deal with. Yes, there are people here who will handle everything for you on this end as far as customs, etc. if you would like to have that done. I have that information for you as well.

Caribbean activity is among the best in the world for outdoor people. We have some of the most pristine beaches in the world and many are among the top ten listed in the world. We have mountainous terrain, rainforests, and some of the best snorkeling and scuba in the world. Hiking through rainforests or biking on island trails, you will have plenty to talk about.

St Thomas weather is truly a paradise come true. I have spent winters and summers all over the world, but the St Thomas weather is without a doubt, the finest in the world.
