USDA and FSA agencies announce programs to assist Kansas farmers
Kansas Farm Service Agency is reaching out to women and minority farmers in the state in an effort to get more of them involved in its farm programs. Some of the programs include farm loans for young farmers, diaster assistance, emergency loans and conservation programs, direct payments, ACRE, marketing assistance and farm storage facility loans. The Kansas Department of Agriculutre has also announced that emergency loans are available in various counties due to natural diasters. Kansas Counties included in the winter storm Presidential Diaster Declaration are Allen, Anderson, Atchison, Bourbon, Brown, Butler, Cherokee, Cheyenne, Clay, Crawford, Cowley, Decatur, Doniphan, Elk, Franklin, Gove, Graham, Greenwood, Jackson, Jefferson, Jewell, Labette, Linn, Logan, Lyon, Marshall, Miami, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Norton, Osage, Phillips, Pottawatomie, Republic, Rawlins, Riley, Shawnee, Sheridan, Wabaunsee, Wallace, Washington, Wilson, Woodson, and Wyandotte. These contiguous counties in Kansas are also eligible: Chase, Chautauqua, Cloud, Coffey, Dickinson, Douglas, Geary, Greeley, Harvey, Johnson, Lane, Leavenworth, Marion, Mitchell, Montgomery, Ness, Osborne, Ottawa, Rooks, Scott, Sedgwick, Sherman, Smith, Sumner, Thomas, Trego, and Wichita.
