The Nevada County real estate market has living styles for everyone, be it the area's rich, historic rural towns or the beautiful surrounding foothills. Nevada County Seasons

The towns of Nevada City, Grass Valley California, and their neighbors are often frequented year-round by visitors and residents alike. All four seasons provide a continuous show of nature and its beauty. There is an explosion of foliage in the beginning of springtime, as daffodils, various fruit tress, and dogwoods boom. In the beginning of spring, waterfalls in the large mountain canyons are spectacular. In autumn, as long days fade to bring longer nights, the cold brings out beautiful fall foliage. And when winter arrives, the trees and historic buildings take on a soft blanket of snow. Winter sports fans flock to the mountains for the skiing, snowboarding and sledding.

Nevada County Communities

Penn Valley real estate combines serene family living, the joys of a small town atmosphere, and farm land. Penn Valley, which is about ten miles east from Grass Valley, is a horse lover's dream.

Lake Wildwood is a secured residential community with more than 2,800 homes and a championship-level, private 18-hole golf course. Penn Valley and Lake Wildwood are only a few minutes from each other.

Rough & Ready became well known when they seceded from the Union in 1850. Located just west of Grass Valley, Rough & Ready is truly a charming area, and its residents are united in friendship and local pride.

Alta Sierra, a beautiful planned community, is located a few miles south of Grass Valley and has a fantastic 18-hole golf course situated among pines and black oaks.

Among many facilities, the planned community of Lake of the Pines California in Southern Nevada County has a lake, a marina, tennis courts, and a 19-hole golf course. At an elevation of 1500 feet, Lake of the Pines is located below the snow line.

Located to the northeast of Nevada City, North San Juan is a culturally rich area associated with gold mining and is along highway 49.

East of Grass Valley there is an unincorporated agricultural and residential community named Pearsdale. The first rancher in the area probably made his home in Pearsdale.

Chicago Park, which is east of Grass Valley on the shores of Rollins Lake, is a great place for camping and outdoor recreation, especially water sports like fishing and boating.

Another popular boating, fishing, and camping destination is Scotts Flat Lake, located to the north east of Nevada City. The gateway to the Sierra high country and Tahoe National Forest begins with Scotts Flat Lake with an elevation of 3000 feet.

Nevada County Life

Those that live in the neighboring Sierra high country, which extends from the Nevada City real estate area, through the Tahoe national Forest, all the way to Truckee, are able to marvel at the breathtaking views. You can see gorgeous wild flowers in the spring, take advantage of the fun summer retreats, view splendid fall colors, experience snow-covered Nordic and Alpine skiing and snowboarding, and then cozy up by the fire.
